Ramadan Kareem!
Some of our families are celebrating Ramadan for the next few weeks. This is an important event in the lives of our Muslim families. For families seeking accommodations for Dhuhr prayer, please watch for an important letter from the school administration team. This will be sent home with children who self-identify as Muslim on Monday afternoon.
We are asking that all families discuss the importance of respecting the values and religious practices of other children and their families in their school community.
At Catherine Nichols Gunn, we follow the guidelines as set out by AR3067: Religion in Education and AR6031: Welcoming, Caring, Respectful and Safe Learning and Work Environments
Lost and Found
As space is limited in our building, an effort to remove lost and found items and bring them for donation will be made at the end of this week. Families can come into the school to go through items and take what they need Monday to Wednesday. All remaining items will be donated. Thank you.
School Council – Needs Volunteers
School Council held a small meeting this week but were unable to get a quorum. Our School Council is in desperate need of volunteers. This small but might group of volunteers raise large amounts of money through casinos and other fundraising endeavors throughout the year and the money is use to pay for school field trips, additional technology and resources for students, and most recently, towards building a new playground.
Without them, these opportunities for children would be highly limited. This year, our School Council Chair and Treasurer will be moving on as their children move to Sir John A MacDonald. Many opportunities are available to help. Please let me know if you are willing to take on a role within our school council.
March's School Council meeting will be held online due to labor action. Conversations about keeping online meetings will be part of this meeting as well. Please plan to be there:
