Visitors & Volunteers Sign-In

For the safety of students and staff, all classroom and exterior doors are locked during school hours. If parents require entrance to the school during school hours, you must ring the main door buzzer (east facing doors) and office staff will assist you.

All visitors are to check into the office immediately upon arrival.

For both safety and security of all students, please do not go to directly to the classrooms. Parents who are volunteering in the classroom must sign-in and receive an identification tag to wear while in the school.

Student Pick-Up

When picking up children at dismissal, parents/guardians are asked to meet their children outside the designated doors for their grade or by the office. This is for the safety of our students. Parents wishing to pick up children prior to regular dismissal times must check in at the office, inform office staff and sign the child out indicating the date, time and reason for pick-up. Children are not to leave the school grounds during school hours.

Supervision

The school provides playground supervision fifteen minutes before school starts, at recess and before the noon entrance bell. Children will be supervised from 8:15 to 8:30 AM and from 12:45 to 1:00 PM for children who are not part of the Noon Supervision Program. Please do not have children arrive before the times shared above. There is no supervision provided by the school after the dismissal bell. Children are to go directly home after school before returning to the school playground.

Lockdowns

All CBE schools are required to practice lockdowns in the same way that we practice fire drills. The procedures for lockdowns are developed with the Calgary Police Service and are part of each school’s Emergency Response Plan. If you have questions about lockdown drills or lockdown procedures, please contact your principal.

Evacuation Procedures

In the event that the school needs to be evacuated for any reason, all staff have been trained according to CBE standards. All schools have a primary and a secondary evacuation site. In the event of an evacuation, you will receive an email, phone or SMS notification from the school.

Video Surveillance Technology

The Calgary Board of Education may install and use video surveillance technology at select schools to support maintaining a safe and secure environment and to help control vandalism and criminal activity on school property.

Personal information gathered by video surveillance is collected under the authority of the Education Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) section 33(b). The users of this information are the principal or designate and law enforcement personnel in the case of reported incidents that would require an investigation. Only authorized persons will review video surveillance information.

This technology is considered a complement to, and not a replacement for, CBE's strategies in supporting a welcoming, caring, safe, and respectful learning and work environment for students and staff.

Approval, installation and use of video surveillance technology will comply with Administrative Regulation 1066.

For questions or concerns, please contact the school principal.
