Calendar Update 

As we have some Kindergarten Students who only attend part-time, we needed to adjust the date for the school picture retakes so they too will have an opportunity to have their pictures taken.  

Picture retakes has been moved from October 29, 2024 to October 30, 2024.

Absence Reporting 

When children will be absent for the day, we ask that parents contact our main office to let us know. To report school absences, please email cngunn@cbe.ab.ca or call 403-777-6620, and press 1 to leave a message.  

School Pictures  

School Pictures are next Thursday for all students attending this day.  

• Help your child pick out clothes and colours that they like. ... 
• Glasses are okay! ... 
• Any hairstyle works for Picture Day. ... 
• Keep kids relaxed and ready to be themselves. ... 
• Pack cleaner snacks and lunches... 
• Don't worry about “perfect”! 

For Kindergarten parents who have children who do not attend this day, you will have two options:  

• Contact the school to arrange a time to bring your child to the school on picture day. 
• Wait until October 31, 2024 when your child is attending, and they can have their pictures taken this day.  

Toys and Collector Cards- Please keep them Home 

Many children are excited to share their toys and collector cards at school. However, students are asked to keep these in their backpacks for the day (including lunch). Unfortunately, children sometimes lose them, don’t keep them in their backpacks securely, so they fall out, or in worse situations, they are taken by classmates who have desires and limited self-control. These often include fidget spinners, marvel cards, and pokemon cards. 

We ask that parents keep these items at home to be shared in evenings and weekend with friends. This will prevent disappointment when their items go missing at school.  

Reminder: Personal Devices in Schools 

The Alberta Government has banned the use of personal devices in schools. As the school year has kicked off, we have had few reminders to students, but we are still having some sticky moments.  

Personal mobile devices include any device that can be used to communicate with or access the internet, such as a cell phone, tablet, gaming device, laptop or smartwatch. This also includes devices capable of communicating with a mobile device such as headphones and Bluetooth devices (e.g. earbuds and speakers.)

Orange Shirt Day Walking Field Trip 

The entire school will be going on a community walk around the neighborhood to raise awareness for Orange Shirt Day on Wednesday, September 25. We will be departing the school at 1:45pm and expect to return before 2:30pm. Students are asked to dress for the weather, making sure they have appropriate clothing and running shoes to help keep them comfortable during the walk. We encourage all students to wear orange!  

School Office Hours 

Over the last few weeks, we have had families come to see teachers and pick up items in classrooms later in the day and outside of office hours. Vehicles in the parking lot do not always indicate teachers are present and we do not want you to come to the school and not be able to get the help you need.  

We are asking that when parents need to speak with teachers, please plan with your child’s teacher in advance.

Fri: 7:45-12:45
