Highlights this Week

Grade 3-4 Students to attend Swimming Lessons- Monday to Thursday

Ms. Baldwin, Ms, Juk, and Ms Evans’ Grade 5-6 Students to attend Swimming Lessons- Monday to Thursday Afternoon.

We can still use volunteers this week!

This week is Walk to School Week! We hope to encourage active living by having children walk to school, or the bus stop.

Importance of Volunteering

Next week, several of our classes will be attending a swimming field trip. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn a vital life skill. Our teachers are struggling to find volunteers.

If you were here to meet the teacher, you would have heard many encouraging words to get people out and volunteering. We need volunteers to make field trips happen, and in cases where we do not have enough, field trips need to be cancelled.

Registering to be a volunteer requires both an annual authorization (completed by paper form or in MyCBE) and a Police Clearance. Three ways to become a volunteer:

  • If you were a volunteer in the past at another CBE school and your police clearance is still valid, we can move you to our registry. Please let us know if you have done this already.
  • If you were a volunteer at CNGunn in the past, and still have a valid police clearance, fill out your annual authorization in MyCBE or the form sent home with your child’s school opening package at the beginning of the school year.
  • If you do not yet have a valid police clearance or your police clearance has not expired, please stop by our main office during office hours, or during parent teacher conferences October 24-25, 2024, and we can give you a letter and instructions to obtain a free police clearance for volunteering with us.
