This afternoon I am filled with gratitude and appreciation as I share with you the news that I will be moving into a new chapter within my professional journey in the coming school year. I have recently accepted a Professional Improvement Fellowship to complete my final candidacy and research for a Doctor of Education.

Being part of this school community has been a deeply meaningful chapter in my life. I have had the joy of watching your children grow and learn, igniting a spark for elementary education I had not expected. Listening to your children’s stories, celebrating their growth, and watching them learn to connect across differences renewed my belief that schools have an extraordinary impact on the lives of young people.

In my time, I have been exceptionally grateful for my relationships with families and the many conversations that have shaped our decisions as school staff. Working alongside our school council and their devoted commitment to our students’ opportunities has been a highlight of my time. Their thoughtfulness and advocacy for our school community enrich the lives of every single student and support staff in ensuring student needs are met.

The decision to leave has not been made lightly. While finishing my doctoral studies feels like a natural next step in my journey, it is one that has been profoundly influenced by this community and the work we have done together. While I am excited about this step, there is a real sadness in leaving the daily moments of joy, connection, and growth- the values our whole school community commits to- that have shaped my four years here in this role.

Change always brings mixed emotions, and I carry both gratitude and a sense of loss in my decision to move into this transition. With this in mind, I have confidence that our community's strengths will remain, and the care, collaboration, and shared purpose will continue to be the school's foundation.

Thank you for welcoming me so generously, for trusting me with your children, and for walking alongside me in this work. It has been an honor to serve as your principal, and this school community will remain in my heart forever.
