As the principal of our wonderful school, I wanted to take a moment to express my deep appreciation for the invaluable role that volunteers play in our school community. Volunteers enrich the lives of our students and staff, and I believe it's essential to highlight their significant contributions.

Volunteers are important to the enhanced opportunities our staff try to offer our students and they bring experience and joy into our classrooms and to our field trips. Whether it's providing time to our School Council and Parent Association, helping in the classroom assisting in breakfast and lunch clubs, organizing school events, or attending as a supervisor on many of our field trips, volunteers make a profound difference in the lives of our students.

Here are some key reasons why volunteers are essential to our school:

  • Fostering a Sense of Community

  • Volunteers strengthen the bonds within our school community. When parents, grandparents, and community members actively participate in school activities, it sends a powerful message to our students that we all care about their education and well-being. This sense of belonging is crucial for creating a positive and inclusive school environment.

  • Promoting Lifelong Values

  • Volunteering teaches our students the importance of giving back to their community. By witnessing the selflessness and dedication of volunteers, students are more likely to develop a strong sense of civic responsibility and empathy. These values will serve them well throughout their lives.

  • Maximizing Resources

  • In an era of tight budgets and limited resources, volunteers can help bridge the gap. Their contributions allow us to offer a wider range of programs and activities that enhance the overall educational experience for our students. When volunteers help with field trips, we do not need to send Educational Assistants out of our school, and they can focus on helping with literacy and numeracy tasks at school.

As we reflect on the importance of volunteers in our school, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all those who have dedicated their time and efforts to support our students and staff. If you haven't yet had the opportunity to volunteer at our school, I encourage you to consider doing so. Your involvement, no matter how small, can make a significant impact on the lives of our students and the success of our school community.

We are currently in high need of volunteers for field trips and for our school playground committee. If you are able to provide just a little bit of your time, please send an email to cngunn@cbe.ab.ca to learn more about how you can help.

Thank you for your unwavering dedication and commitment to our school. Let's celebrate and cherish our volunteers for the remarkable individuals they are and the positive change they bring to our school every day.

Thank you,

Linda M. Doyle, Principal
